Will's Copy Center: Franklin

All About Franklin
Franklin Bradford, official Will's Copy Center greeter

The job of copy center greeter was first held by Milo, who is still fondly remembered. Franklin never got to meet Milo, but has taken on the job of greeter with with his own rather pointed style.

We asked Franklin to tell you the 10 things about him everybody should know, this is what he said:

  1. Will says I'm a cute little Chihuahua/Papillon mix dog - but I'm actually a Grizzly Shark! Please don't try to pet me or reach over the counter... 'cause if we're not old friends I'll probably bite you. I mean it! There are signs up about that so please do pay attention to them.
  2. I was brought here from Georgia by the Animal Welfare Society. I'm SO glad Will adopted me and I get to spend my days fiercely guarding the shop! That's why I'm sure my job here is to guard Will to the death, so please do pay attention to #1 above.
  3. Can you get on my good side so we can be friends? Sure! Just stop by regularly and bring me a treat each time. Hint, I like Milk Bones but don't like expensive "gourmet" bone shaped treats, peanut butter treats or "fake meat" things like those bacon flavor Beggin' Strips. I DO own the place and get treated like royalty, so it may be I'm fussy. Anyway, if you become a "treats person" over time I'll warm up to you and I'll be happy to see you!
  4. Young people, especially really young ones, scare me. A lot. They always want to come pet me so please don't let them! After all, the only one that's supposed to be small around here is me...
  5. I'm friendlier outside the shop than in here where I'm on Guard Duty. If you invited me to your house I'd be asking for pets and food.
  6. I love to take long walks, even if the weather is terrible. You'll probably see me and Will out for walks on Main Street in the mornings, and after work!
  7. Fierce as I am, I actually have a lot of friends. I love everyone I met in the first 6 days I was here, and like other little dogs - especially chihuahua mix dogs. Even someone like me who's been to Dog Jail can have a happy life.
  8. I was named by a Customer here at the shop! My original name wasn't a good one so Will wanted to change it. On my second day here a customer looked over the counter and said "He looks like a Franklin." Now that's my name, after Benjamin Franklin, who was a printer... just like me!
  9. My best friend here in Kennebunk is Tom's dog Ryo-ohki (pronounced Ryuki). She's the terrier you see riding around town on the back of a three-wheeled bike when it's nice. SHE is friendly.
  10. Here's my final secret - I'm fiercer in the morning than in the afternoon. Toward the end of the day I mostly just want a nap. I deserve it after all, because I take care of the place so well!
